How to change your site icon
One of the changes you might like to make to your website is to alter the site icon. This is the icon that appears next to the name of your site in the browser like this one:

This is easily done in your Wordpress site. Firstly you'll need to login you can do this by going to your WordPress admin page and entering your details. If you’re not sure of your password, you can click “Lost Password” to reset it.
Next, you need to navigate to the 'Appearance' panel on the dashboard menu:

Hover over Appearance and click 'Customize' once you've done that, you'll see this page:

Click on 'Site Identity', this will open up the panel below:

As you can see, you can alter the title of your site, the tagline and the site icon. To upload an icon click 'Select site icon' as a guide, Wordpress recommends that the icon should be square and at least 512 x 512 pixels. Once you've clicked 'Select site icon' the media dialogue should open like so:

You can either upload or select one from the media library. In this situation we'll upload a new one, so we'll find the icon from our computer and drag and drop it into the upload box, alternatively you can use the Select Files button to find the image in a file viewer.

Now the file has been uploaded we can press the 'Select' button (bottom right corner) to select the image as the icon, this will then take us to another dialogue box that suggests cropping the image:

In this area you can crop it further or you can skip, but there is a preview of what the icon looks like on the right hand side. Click either 'Skip cropping' or 'Crop image' to continue.

Once you've completed the upload, make sure you click 'Publish' at the top of this panel. Then you'll see you've successfully added your site icon as it will be displayed in the browser like so:
